DSTV Streama has been unveiled at the latest Multichoice home entertainment solution that will allow users to watch DSTV Content, as well as stream Showmax and YouTube content on a single connection.
Unlike common DSTV Decoders, the new DSTV Streama device doesn’t require an active satellite dish connection in order to work. Instead, it requires a LAN (Local Area Network) or Wi-FI connection to work.
Advantageously, DSTV Streama allows users to switch between DSTV, Showmax, and YouTube content without any subscription package required. With a no-subscription model, a user only needs a valid DSTV Login to stream content on the device with 4K HDMI output.
Given the fact that no-subscription nor Satellite dish connection is required, the Streama pricing is expected to be higher than the regular DSTV Explora price tag. But since the official launch date has not been announced yet, the pricing can’t be confirmed until then.
By Hardware, DSTV Streama is built on the RDK platform – an Operator tier platform, designed and built by several TV Operators. According to Multichoice, the platform was selected because it enables DSTV to deliver content to customers with flexibility and security in-sight.
As per the specifications sheet, the device will run with a low-energy rating, and enhanced Dolby Atmos sound. This means, DSTV Streama is a complete TV Streaming box that will hold more features than those revealed at the moment. Nonetheless, here is a toss of the device specs:
