MTN 5G is no longer a futuristic rumor, but rather a possibility in the making after the South-African based telco has made a 5G demo in Nigeria the same way last year’s MTN Uganda expo brought to book live 5G experiments
Though MTN Uganda experimented 5G with self-driving cars at the expo and Internet of Things (IOT) booths for the show. MTN Nigeria has changed its odds and graced citizens with a taste of 5G network speeds that tremble 1000 times faster than regular 4G on-peak speeds
The demo has been conducted in Abuja and follows MTN Nigeria’s promise made in July to bring 5G connectivity to the Igwe country proceeding a South African test where the standard reached 20GBs per second with a latency mark of less than 5minutes
In fact, the Nigeria communications commission (NCC) had already announced plans to deploy 5G and the Yello telco just placed its bid ahead before the NCC plan is fully implemented according to Tech next Nigeria
According to the CEO of MTN Nigeria, their plan is to make 5G widely available in the region once the right infrastructure is acquired from giant wings like Huawei as he commented on the demo launch
5G will make our life better, drive incremental capacity and open up new businesses. MTN as a company is constantly making efforts to break barriers by democratising voice and data connectivity in order to improve subscriber experience, and has invested over N800 billion in infrastructure in Nigeria

In a flip, 5G networks are slowly paving their path to Africa step by step, first was SouthAfrica’s assertion that Huawei was the key 5G driver and now Nigeria’s 5G demo launch spicing up MTN Uganda’s 2018 teaser during its expo
So, expect 5G to replace 4G network connectivity very soon since the time machine has started beaming the future much faster than we all expected.
