Today, news of fresh MTN Uganda daily data bundles has surfaced with big revisions made by the Yello telco. Maintaining the previous pricing from as low as UGX 250 and a Maximum of UGX 1,000 on daily data bundles, MTN Uganda has juiced up its bundle volumes a quarter step higher to offer customers more connection durations than ever before.

Previously, a customer was able to buy 15MBs at UGX 250, and 300MBs at UGX 2,000. But with the new changes, a customer now gets 25MBs instead of 15, and 365MBs instead of 300, at the same pricing.

This means, MTN Uganda has laid out new 2021 daily data bundles that we don’t expect to change anytime in the year. Much more like a standard, annual promotions are expected on Mobile Money transfers, and maybe, the telco could revise its weekly and monthly bundles as tokens for a campaign.

While speaking to journalists the telco CEO, Mr. Wim Vanhelleputte inked the company’s goal to offer faster speeds, and affordable data packages for every customer in the country as he said:

MTN committed to doing all it takes in terms of providing affordable data, on the best data network. And speaking in the context of the times we’re in, we hope these bundles with bigger MBs will support our customers recover from the effects of the lockdown, whether in business, education, or otherwise.
Said Wim Vanhelleputte

New MTN Uganda Daily Data Bundles Vs the OLD

PRICE (UGX)

OLD Bundle Volume

NEW Bundle Volume

250

15MBs

25MBs

500

40MBs

65MBs

1,000

100MBs

165MBs

2,000

300MBs

365MBs

MTN Uganda Daily Data Bundles comparison

As per the comparison, MTN Uganda has revised its daily data bundles by a quarter higher in a fashion similar to: the less you pay, the more you get. In simple terms, the telco has simply made a very small change to the bundles that could be irrelevant to the everyday user since the increased volume is quite close to the old data depletion cap.

In a nutshell, if you own the MTN Kamunye, or MTN Kabode phones, these bundles are for you, otherwise, if you own a smartphone, stay in the weekly, and monthly bundles league since only a small change has been made to the bundle structure. For now, we can expect a similar deduction by Airtel Uganda since customers may feel cheated with their unchanged structure.

MTN Gaga Time is an overnight data bundle that was introduced by the telco to spice up its Night shift offer. Initially, the telco was offering 1GB at UGX 2,000 available from 12:00 am to 6:00 am.

YouTube streaming bundles could soon be introduced by MTN Uganda. The telco is known to break offers first before its competitors come into play. Its trend can be seen with midweek offers where Gaga Wednesday was the Genesis for Africell’s midweek Don’t be cheated offer, and later Airtel with Freaky Friday.

Well, YouTube streaming bundles could be part of the telco’s 2020 plans. Even though no direct reveal has been made by MTN, the current indicators and free streaming bonuses for subscribers prove it all.

At the moment, when you buy a Gaga Time bundle valid from 12:00 am to 10 PM, you get 30 minutes of free YouTube streaming. The streaming bonus is currently limited to Gaga time as a spicer for the overnight data bundle that features 2GB at UGX 2,000, and 5GB at 4,000/=

The free 30-Minutes Youtube streaming bonus offered when you buy MTN’s Gaga Time offer

If launched, we expect YouTube bundles to be priced based on timeframes as the fate is with the current bonus given to Gaga Time users. Either way, it will be a Win-Win for subscribers if YouTube bundles come in a fashion similar to the current Tidal subscription model.

This means a user could choose between daily, weekly, or monthly packages to stream and watch YouTube content without worrying about any extra data being used as the fate is with Music bundles.

Given the fact that MTN Uganda hasn’t inked any details on YouTube streaming bundles, we’re confident based on the current bonus that anytime soon, the telco will launch the exciting bundles paving a clean path for future tiers like Netflix bundles.

MTN Uganda customers are celebrating the spice of enjoying one rate for calling all local networks at only 4shs per second. The new rate was announced by the Yello team off their Twitter account, and within a short time, the move was endorsed by the Hon Minister of ICT Frank Tumwebaze in a tweet back.

By implementing a one rate policy for all customers to call any other network at the same price as any on-net call, it means rival networks like Airtel and Africell will soon follow the trend line. At only 4shs per second, the new MTN calling rate is an affordable nail a subscriber can sacrifice without necessarily switching to another network.

Correspondingly, the new MTN calling rates are coupled with a minute pounding on UGX 180. In fact, the new MTN single rate makes it the most affordable off-network offer by any telecom in Uganda. In spite of the unending bundle ratio of Paka Paka bundles, the new One rate is an offer that will increase the Yello telco subscriber base with a 1 Simcard motive.

Summary of the new Calling rates

Rate Per Second: 4

Rate Per Minute: 180

Unlike all tariff plans that have always been introduced to make voice calls cheaper from MTN Zone to the current MTN Pulse plan. The new offer is the best we’ve ever seen since it has no limitations on which number you can call at the same rate as a local net call.

However, does this mean that subscribers will now glue to a single line system, we think the competition always tastes sweet. For instance, the same way MTN cruised its Gaga Wednesday offer and Africell encroached on it before Airtel redefined the game with a 3-day mashup. Its the same way another telco is yet to ship the one rate system for all subscribers.

So, we all know what could come next after MTN’s declaration of a 4Shs/Sec tariff for all calls across the network. Airtel or Africell will be soon borrowing a spade to unveil a single rate for all calls without any Pakalast or Pakaboom noise.

In June 2015, a report by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) crowned Uganda as the world’s most entrepreneurial nation, beating 72 other nations in the ranking. The report discovered that out of an average of 10 Ugandans, 3 were entrepreneurs.

It was a surprise that Uganda, a small country tucked away in Eastern Africa, could beat other ‘more innovative’ and ‘better empowered’ countries like the US which is home to innovation hubs such as the globally popular Silicon Valley.

The role of entrepreneurship and small businesses in driving economies is widely acknowledged and understood; in 2016, roughly half of all formal jobs worldwide were created by SMEs according to data from the World Bank.

However, entrepreneurs and SMEs still face a number of challenges, one of them being communication. MTN Uganda, through various stages of research, product development and testing, has now launched innovative and affordable communication and business solutions for small and large enterprises.

Speaking at the launch of the TUKOLE Campaign, Mr. Bwire Tadeo MTN Senior Manager SME Sales said that the communication and business solutions are aimed at making entrepreneurs and SMEs work smarter to sustainably grow faster.

[bs-quote quote=”For many businesses, whether large or small, access to the affordable communication channels remains crucial to their success. The solutions we have launched today will provide them value both in the short and long term” style=”default” align=”left” author_name=”Sophia Mukasa” author_job=”Senior Manager – Enterprise Products and Marketing at ‎MTN Uganda.”][/bs-quote]

He further stated that the solutions were revolutionary and in line with the MTN vision of delivering a bold, new digital world to their customers.

[irp posts=”2988″ name=”MTN Uganda extends its Gaga offers, here is what you should know about the cheapest data bundles every Wednesday”]

At the launch, the meaning of the word ‘TUKOLE’ was unpacked.

“’Tukole’ is a Luganda word meaning “Let’s Work Together”. We are here to say that MTN Uganda is the right partner for your business, no matter the size or stage of development, everywhere you go. So let us work together to guarantee your success” said Mr. Bwire Tadeo.

MTN Uganda has promised that users of these products and services will become more efficient by ensuring sustainability in the cost of doing business in both the short and long term.

“It is clear that all these entrepreneurs and SMEs in Uganda are looking for enablers of progress because it is always a tough journey starting and running a business. That is why MTN Uganda is providing more integrated communication and business solutions for this category of businesses that have been largely uncatered for” said Sophia Mukasa, the Senior Manager – Enterprise Products and Marketing at ‎MTN Uganda.

With the launch of these solutions by MTN Uganda, it is clear that Ugandan entrepreneurs and business operators are set for more growth. For more info on the TUKOLE Campaign, visit any MTN Service Centre countrywide, call 0313 121 121 or email talkbusiness.UG@mtn.com
