Telegram is a fast-rising Instant Messaging platform that has grown in popularity with over 1 billion monthly users. Unlike other IM apps like WhatsApp, Signal, Imo, and many others, Telegram has a suite of features you can use at any point in time, and currently, you can auto-delete Telegram messages by simply setting a timer for the sent out chats.

Similar to Whatsapp which allows you to send disappearing messages, the auto-delete Telegram messages feature allows you to limit the time your sent message stays visible to the recipient. Previously, you could only auto-delete Telegram messages from secret chats, but with a new Android update, it ships with other features including home screen widgets, broadcast groups, etc.

In the presence of a self-destructing timer which ranks as another messages deletion feature, the new auto-delete feature starts when you send out a message and not when a recipient reads the message. So, the two features are different in function with the self-destructing clearing read messages, and auto-delete starting once a message is sent. Nonetheless, here is how you can auto-delete Telegram messages.

How you Auto-Delete Telegram Messages on Android

Step 1: From your applications list, open the Telegram App

Step 2: Once open, on your main chats dashboard, open or start a chat with any contact

Step 3: Then, locate and tap the 3 dots option in the top-right corner

Step 4: From the drop down menu, select clear history

Step 5: Then, on the clear history pop-up, locate the Auto Delete Messages in this chat option

Step 6: Use the option scroller to choose your preferred duration to auto-delete messages, then click Enable Auto-Delete

Step 7: Once enabled, all new messages will automatically be deleted after the set time

After a bunch of user privacy and trust issues rising from WhatsApp’s 2021 privacy policy update which will alow the app to share data with Facebook, Telegram as one of the best alternatives has now started supporting imported WhatsApp history allowing users directly import WhatsApp messages to the platform.

Currently, the best way to import WhatsApp messages to Telegram is through exporting your data to be directly retrieved by Telegram with contact selections of those actively registered on the app. This means, every node of your chat history will be saved in the same order as your contacts.

In the importation process of your Whatsapp messages to Telegram, you will not face any errors associated with losing your previous chat data as a matter of migration. Often, switching between apps attracts data loss, but with migrating your WhatsApp data to Telegram, all your data will be saved.

Since Telegram groups operate in a different fashion as compared to Whatsapp groups, you may not get any of your group history imported to the platform. Henceforth, only your Whatsapp chat history with contacts will be migrated in the same style, shared media, and notes similar to your previous chat session.

How to Import WhatsApp messages to Telegram

Well, to import your WhatsApp messages to Telegram, all you need to do is export your WhatsApp data, then, import the exported data to Telegram and cross check through the retrieved chat information which may include text messages and media such as videos, pictures, voice notes and stickers. Nonetheless, here is how you can import your Whatsapp messages to Telegram on your smartphone.

From your applications list, open WhatsApp

Then, on your main chats list, tap the 3 options button (top right corner)

Then, from the options drop down menu, select More

Choose Export, Then choose Telegram from the popup list of options

Telegram will start importing your WhatsApp data

Once importation is done, open Telegram to confirm your retieved chats

DONE: You just imported your WhatsApp messages to Telegram

How to Import a single Whatsapp contact’s chat to Telegram

Given the fact that many users have not swicthed to Telegram as yet, a bunch of your contacts may not be active on the platform as yet, but you could be sure on who has an active account on the platform, and so, you get to export their chat history with ease. With the process, only a single contact’s chat history will be imported to telegram, and here is how you can achieve that.

Telegram now supports Video Calls and Profile Videos. In a bid to celebrate millions of downloads coupled with its 7th Anniversary, Telegram introduced new features that are slowly making the platform a perfect head to head WhatsApp alternative.

With over 400million active users, Telegram now allows you to make high-quality video calls using your Smartphone or Computer. Contrary to WhatsApp which only supports Video calls on smartphones, Telegram has no limitation on which devices can use the feature.

Well, Incase you’re excited like we’re, we gave the Telegram Video calling feature a try, and it’s worth an App to download on your Smartphone or computer.

How to Make Telegram Video Calls

By default, you can make Video calls on Telegram to any contact. However, to access the option, you must update the App from the Google Play or Apple Store.

Once Updated, your account then receives a Call-like Icon which serves as your gateway to making Voice and Video calls. However, unlike other IM Platforms like WhatsApp, for Telegram, you must turn-on the Video option manually, and not a standalone Call option.

A Telegram Video + Voice Call

With the ability to turn on Video Calling manually, you can easily make both Voice and Video Calls in the same duration. All you have to do is toggle the Camera option ON or OFF.

Once you end a Video call, the Call log will be displayed in your chats thread. So, the logs don’t have a separate tab as it is on other IM platforms.

If compared to Whatsapp Video calls, you’ll get a much faster Video call experience with Telegram. Equally important, the quality of your calls highly depends on your current Internet connection speeds.

How to set a Profile Video for your Telegram Account

To set a Video as your Telegram account Profile Photo/Graphic, all you need to do is prepare a short Video clip you wish to use. Once ready, open your Telegram App and locate the Account Edit option( Settings->Account-> Edit).

How to set a Video as your Telegram Account Graphic

Setting a Telegram Profile Video

Prepare a Short Video (3-6 seconds) you wish to use as your Profile Graphic

Then Open the Telegram App

From the App, Go to Settings, then locate the Account Edit button

Then click set new Profile Photo

From your File Explorer, locate your Short Video

Finally, select a portion of your Video to use as a static Image

Done: Set your new Profile Video and it will show up as your profile Image

Once you set a Video as your Account Image, It will show up without sound, but instead as a GIF. Henceforth, you should worry if no sound populates on your profile Video, but instead, brace the GIF format which ranks up better than a static image on your Profile.
