Uganda’s default ZIP code has always been 256 for the past years, but now, almost all regions in the country now have Zip or Postal codes listed to them. Thanks to the digital age, every region can be identified unitedly with a ZIP code.
A ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) code is a postal code that allows shipping and courier services to easily locate a region by its uniquely assigned code. The service was introduced by the United States Postal service (USPS) in 1963 and has since then been adopted by major countries in the world.
Commonly, a Zip code is always requested whenever you sign up for an account online, be it an email address or an e-commerce portal like Amazon or eBay.
Unlike the past years, Uganda now supports zip codes with Kampala and Wakiso currently rocking as the initial supported districts. With the new zip codes, you’re able to use your area code instead of the country 256 postal code, and here is a full list of all codes you need to know.
