Huawei mobile now has a green light from the United Kingdom Government to participate in the country’s 5G roll-out race. Though UK had initially put a pause on accepting Huawei over US threats on data security, the country’s premiers have decided to take an evidence-based path to allow the Chinese Tech giant to avail 5G equipment to UK operators

The Huawei Vice-President Victor Zhang said in a statement that “This evidence-based decision will result in a more advanced, more secure and more cost-effective telecoms infrastructure that is fit for the future. It gives the UK access to world-leading technology and ensures a competitive market.”

The British government said on Tuesday that it will allow Huawei to build the country’s next generation of super-fast wireless networks, despite the US’ threats that permitting Huawei equipment could undermine trade and intelligence ties with the US.

Zhang said Huawei has a strong track record of supplying cutting-edge technology to telecoms operators in the UK for more than 15 years. It will continue with “supporting customers as they invest in their 5G networks, boosting economic growth and helping the UK continue to compete globally.”

The clear cyber security record of Huawei has been recognized by two parliamentary committees in UK, a country with the toughest oversight of our industry in the world, and the views of pre-eminent intelligence officials, all of whom agree there is no technical reason for excluding Huawei from the UK’s 5G network.

The British Government has full access to evaluate Huawei’s products through the Huawei Cyber Security and Evaluation Centre, opened in the country in 2010. The oversight board of the facility is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre with members from government including Government Communications Headquarters, as well as the UK telecommunications sector.

Zhang added that Huawei agrees a diverse vendor market and fair competition are essential for network reliability and innovation, as well as ensuring consumers have access to the best possible technology.

Dexter Thillien, a senior TMT analyst at Fitch Solutions, told CNBC that“Three is better than two,” he said, “If you ban Huawei, you have a choice between Ericsson and Nokia. You lack competition.”

A study by Mobile UK shows that excluding Huawei would cost the UK economy £7 billion and result in more expensive 5G networks, raising prices for anyone with a mobile device.

Across the EU, no government has imposed an outright ban on Huawei. Operators warn that banning Huawei may add years of delays and billions in costs to European countries’ 5G network launch.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said last week diversification is crucial to ensuring a country’s security in the roll-out of 5G mobile technology and shunning one supplier altogether risks being counterproductive.

Zhang said Huawei’s focus will remain on supplying our customers with secure, reliable equipment so we maintain their support and continue to help create jobs and prosperity in the UK.

Huawei pumped a £1.7 billion contribution to the United Kingdom GDP in 2018 alone as revealed in a research report by Oxford Economics.

During a general 5G seating last month, the United Kingdom recently opened doors for Huawei on leading the country to a full 5G status. Before the final conclusion could be made for major telecoms to acquire the 5G equipment, US is re-Influencing the nation to bare Huawei equipment from its network infrastructure for security reasons.

While President Donald Trump inked a move to lift the Huawei trade ban in the United States of America (USA) last month. His promise hasn’t lasted with plans to restart the ban from Stage 1 in the US as UK also faces a tight sanction if it approves the Chinese giant.

It’s by this US Influence that UK’s prime minister who had voted in Huawei as the best 5G mover is opting for a change with his governing committee, Unlike SouthAfrica that already commended Huawei as the best global 5G trend mover.

According to Donald Trump’s Security advisor John Bolton, British officials are “looking at the Huawei status from square one” as reported by Financial Times. Though Britain is a member of the US Five Eye allies, its favorable stand to Huawei would mean a violation of its relations with the US.

What they said was ‘we would like to review this and be very sure about our decision and we too are concerned about the security of our 5G telecommunications network
John Bolton

As a fact, it is reported that President Donald Trump went ahead to warn Britain on losing its Five Eye position if it chooses to allow Huawei in the region. With the UK Prime Minister planning to revoke his decision on the Chinese telecoms citing security reasons, major UK telecom companies have already procured Huawei network gear for 5G access in the country.

Though the Chinese tech giant has had unfixed ties with UK's close allies, its stand on cybersecurity sounds convincing to UK officials who believe Huawei is one of the best 5G network drivers they can accommodate in the region.

United Kingdom (UK) officials have today chose a brighter 5G side of choosing Huawei’s network devices over any other to populate the futuristic internet standards across the country.

Though the Chinese tech giant has had unfixed ties with UK’s close allies, its stand on cybersecurity sounds <g class="gr_ gr_7 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace gr-progress" id="7" data-gr-id="7">convincing</g> to UK officials who believe Huawei is one of the best 5G network drivers they can <g class="gr_ gr_8 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace gr-progress" id="8" data-gr-id="8">accom</g><g class="gr_ gr_8 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="8" data-gr-id="8">modate</g> in the region.

According to Norman Lamb, who chairs the Science and Technology Committee, the consideration of the <g class="gr_ gr_29 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep gr-progress" id="29" data-gr-id="29">ethical</g> and geopolitical status of UK would delay the rollout of 5G in the country since all its allies chose to ditch Huawei and a deep consideration would help accommodate new decisions.

“The Government needs to consider whether the use of Huawei’s technology would jeopardize this country’s ongoing co-operation with our major allies,” said Mr. Lamb.

United Kingdom (UK) is a members of the “Five Eyes” alliance, consisting of United States (US), Australia, New Zealand and Canada of which US has not fully cleared Huawei off its entity list as its North American counterpart has also delayed its decision on whether to follow its Southern neighbor until elections come to a close.

<g class="gr_ gr_5 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="5" data-gr-id="5">Athough</g> the UK stand against its allies comes in at a time when SouthAfrica chose its side on <g class="gr_ gr_4 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Grammar only-ins doubleReplace replaceWithoutSep" id="4" data-gr-id="4">5G</g> roll out in the region.<g class="gr_ gr_56 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="56" data-gr-id="56"> </g>Chairman Norman Lamb insisted that ” Their’s no technological reason to exclude Huawei entirely. As network operators expect that it would delay the rollout of 5G across the UK by tow or three years”

Given the fact that UK’s 4 Major networks rely on Huawei for network support to <g class="gr_ gr_3 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del" id="3" data-gr-id="3">rollout</g> 5G in the country as per a recent report, It means the country has no option but to sideline with the Chinese giant the same way US can<g class="gr_ gr_4 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del" id="4" data-gr-id="4">‘</g>t fully do <g class="gr_ gr_5 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del" id="5" data-gr-id="5">way</g> with the Tech company.
