Just like MTN Momo Pay, Airtel Money Pay is free to use and doesn’t carry any Mobile money charges to make payments. However, a customer must have enough money left on his account to make a payment with the service.

To use the service, a customer visits a registered merchant, and buy goods or a service to pay with Airtel Pay by entering the Merchant’s unique code after dialing the *185*9# service code.

However, non-registered merchants can’t receive money with the service, meaning a customer can only pay with cash or the merchant’s available payment methods. Registered merchants can be recognized with their Merchant code displayed at the point of sale.

Paying for Goods with Airtel Money Pay

• Or *185#, then Option 9 (Airtel Money Pay)
• Enter Merchant Code to Pay to
• Enter Amount to Pay
• Confirm Payment with Your PIN code
• Done: The Merchant will receive your Payment

With the My Airtel App:

• Open the My Airtel App
• Locate the QR code scanner
• Scan the merchant QR code to receive his payment code
• Enter Amount to Pay
• Then confirm payment with your Airtel Money PIN
• Done: The Merchant will be notified with your Payment

Although Airtel has not announced or advertised this service anywhere on the web or any local channels. We had a deep investigation of the service after seeing its rails on the Airtel Money menu, and it’s by no doubt that the service is actually much closer than we all expected. As a matter of fact, the red camp has already started notifying merchants about the service in order to allow Airtel customers to benefit from the cashless pip drive.

Our thoughts about Airtel Money Pay

Airtel Money Pay is option number 9 on the Airtel Money menu. However much the service has not inked a public face yet, we think it will be another great payments solution at a time when mobile money tax bowed to the 0.5% volume. All in all, its a fatal support indicator of Airtel’s 2019 robust plans.

Since we don’t have any launch dates or straight clues about the new service but can clearly see the direction taken by the Red network. We shall sniff the vapor of the much anticipated cashless payment service that will now strike a signal of the cash era coming to an end with crypto currencies are occupying all front seats.
