Internet penetration in Uganda has for the past years found maximum support with service providers making data packages more affordable than ever before. MTN cruised on its Gaga offer last year attracting Africell to brace the league before Airtel ignited 2019 with a similar Friday offer.

Well, Airtel has now expanded its 4G LTE coverage map to accommodate all corners of Uganda. Little did we expect that 4G would expand beyond major landmarks like Cities, than Airtel’s coverage map activating each and every non-roaming area to the zone.

“With 1,632 sites & over 3,900 kilometers of fiber across Uganda covering 95.9%of the population Airtel has achieved 100% 4G LTE connectivity across the nation, making it possible for subscribers around the country to enjoy an improved experience in internet-based activities” A tweet published by the telco MD VG Somasekhar reads.

The Impact of Airtel’s countrywide 4G rollout

Now that Airtel has over 3,900 fiber optic cables running across the mighty curvy spiced region. We think it’s beyond a temptation but rather a provoke to competitors in the same square like MTN Uganda which has not had a fair tale with security and Africell which has for long been known as one of the best 4G network providers in Uganda.

As much as Airtel’s 4G map now stretches from Kisoro to Arua through Kotido and Mbale back to Kampala with drops to the Kalangala Islands, the dawn of internet prices in Uganda is set to erupt with a decrease in data bundle tags. Fact has it that if all telecoms embrace countrywide 4G LTE coverage, data packages will become more affordable as a reply to the stiff competition.

So, the new 4G internet rollout powering over 1,632 sites will ensure improved connection speeds in Uganda not only to the Red network but for all internet service providers that will soon borrow a leaf from the wide 4G rollout. henceforth, In case you’ve not swapped your Airtel Simcard to a 4G variant, Its high time you taste 4G internet speeds on the move to anywhere around Uganda.

The Airtel 4G smartphone is one abrupt release that has had many customers wondering whether the 4G offer is truly worth it. We decided to take an extra mile and find out if this King Saha hyped device is really one of the cheapest offers in Uganda. While the 4G powered smartphone is available at only 200,000/=. Airtel shops are the only authorized outlets for this particular phone.

With service providers like MTN that offered a whole range of discounted phones during its expo intuition trying to beef up the competition. News thirst telcos like Africell and smart land favorable rates with their mobile money services making a bargain streak worth to survive for. However, the Airtel 4G smartphone is powerful to its name 3G/4G bands outselling it as one of the best devices you can own before black Friday. And to the same network point, let’s find out what the 4G phone truly has to offer.

Airtel 4G smartphone specifications

Network: 2G/3G/4G Dual Sim

Camera: 2MP Front + 5MP Rear

Storage: 8GB internal memory (Expandable to 32GB), 1GB RAM

Performance: MediaTek powered Quad-Core processor

Battery: 1800mAh

Display: 4.5 Inch screen

Box contents: battery, USB charger, USB cable, headsets

Price and where to buy from

Now here is the thing, For only UGX 200,000 rounding off to $53 you get a brand new Airtel 4G smartphone fully loaded with free 5Gb monthly data for a quarter summing up to 15Gb. However, you can only get yourself a brand new device from any Airtel shop countrywide, If not OLX (now Jiji) could be a better online marketplace for a used version or Jumia for a new one as well.

To buy or trash? Our Verdict

We’ve not received or purchased a copy of the Airtel 4G smartphone yet, but when we do, we shall have enough time to unleash the beat mode of this high rated smartphone. However, If you’re looking for that top feature smartphone but still have a cartoon budget, the Airtel 4G smartphone is the best option for you.

But if you’re looking for simply a cheap smartphone to own, you could opt for an MTN Fero or Kafit just in case you can’t afford the 200,000/= 4G powered smartphone. Nonetheless, with ballistic speed promised on the Airtel 4G smartphone, we think its time everyone owns a 4G smartphone without spending hundreds of dollars on a high-end version.

Airtel 4G was for long a myth in Uganda, from the time 4G was launched as the new aster connection speed for customers. Airtel 4G lines were rolled out with 4GB of data accompanying a swap from 3G to 4G. The latest news coming in show that Airtel 4G has crossed borders and is now available in Kenya.

Coverage which doubles as a core factor for faster internet speeds. Airtel 4G will put the company in a head to head competition with its counterpart Safaricom that dominates a bigger part of Kenya.

Airtel 4G Kenya coverage areas

Nairobi and Mombasa are some of Kenya’s most populated areas. Airtel 4G in Kenya is not a visitor or even a myth as many customers always though it is. To access the new 4G internet connectivity by Airtel, you will need a valid 3G line ready for upgrade or simply buy a new 4G sim card.

So, we list for you the full list of Airtel Uganda shortcodes you may need to remember. Or else use them each time you feel like you should.

Airtel Uganda is a popular mobile service provider in Uganda leaping the first podium position to MTN Uganda. With the rise in its data and voice bundle offers trimmed for customers, It’s the more these services need shortcodes to activate.

Among the most popular shortcodes used to activate services and buy current offers include the *149# shortcode for Voice Bundles housing MyPakalast, Kawa, Pakalast, Kyabise, Zaweze offers, among others.

However, the Airtel Money shortcake of *185# is the most useful for sending money and making payments with the telco’s free to use Airtel Money pay service. Nonetheless, here is a full list of shortcodes you may need to remember.

List of Airtel Uganda shortcodes
