At the launch of its largest Global cyber security and privacy protection transparency center in Dongguan China. Huawei made a call for Cyber security unity if computer misuse attempts and cyber crimes are to be reduced across the world.

The event was braced by representatives from GSMA, SUSE, the British Standards Institution (BSI), and regulators from the UAE, Indonesia that digested Huawei’s call for a unified approach to cybersecurity based on facts and verification, other than suspicion and misconceptions.

“While we are deepening digitalisation across the world, cybersecurity is becoming more important than ever before

According to research from Cybersecurity Ventures, damages from cybercrime are set to reach US$6-trillion in 2021.”
says Dr. Ken Hu, Rotating Chairman, Huawei.

Pointing to the rise of remote work and the increased amount of time people are spending online as a result of the pandemic, he points out the globe is facing deeper cybersecurity challenges than at any other time in its history.

In order to address these challenges, Hu says, a unified, collaborative approach between corporations, nation-states, regulators, and industry bodies is required.

“Cybersecurity is a complex, evolving challenge that requires collaboration,” he says. “In some places there is still a misconception that country of origin affects network security. This is not true and prevents us from taking a unified approach to cybersecurity.”

The new transparency centre, he says, aims to change that and help facilitate collaboration across the ecosystem.

“At Huawei, cybersecurity is our top priority,” he says, pointing out that the company employs more than 3 000 cybersecurity professionals and spends five percent of its R&D budget on cybersecurity.

“The new centre will demonstrate solutions, facilitate communication and joint innovation, and support stakeholders around the world,” he adds.

The event also saw Huawei launch its Product Security Baseline Whitepaper, which represents a further step in its quest for cybersecurity collaboration.

The whitepaper sets out the end-to-end framework which Huawei uses when it develops, tests, and launches products to ensure that they’re as secure as possible.

“The baselines outlined in the whitepaper ensure all Huawei products keep to regulatory standards,” says Sean Yang – Director of Huawei Global Cyber Security and Privacy Protection Office.

In making the baselines public, Huawei hopes to further foster a spirit of collaboration and transparency.

“We want to share knowledge with all stakeholders, to help ensure that end-users are kept secure while having their privacy protected,” he adds.

Huawei Technologies is currently in talks with Samsung and SK Hynix for stable chip supplies. This is due to rising pressure from the US barring chip makers from conducting business with the Shenzhen based Company.

Previously, Huawei was ordering chips from various makers such as TMSC in the United States. But with an extension of the company’s existence on the US entity list, Chip providers have revoked their partnerships with Huawei in compliance with ever-rising rules.

According to Korea Economic Daily, Huawei is now in talks with Samsung and SK Hynix for the supply of chips in case sanctions continue North. Annually, Huawei is an active client to the South Korean Duo purchasing over $8.1 Million worth NAND and DRAM flash memory chips.

With Samsung and SK Hynix taking a bullish share of 70% for DRAM memory chips globally, Huawei’s choice to strike a partnership with the Companies will make it self reliant from any US coalitions.

Likely, Huawei has also started purchasing chips from fellow Chinese maker, MediaTek, and further sourcing for more makers that are not under any US influence barring them from conducting business with Huawei.

If successful with bridging partnerships to the South Korean based brands, Huawei may fully on custom solutions to still serve its customers amidst a current ban from the US ecosystem.

ZTE Corporation is one of the leading Chinese telecom equipment and systems manufacturers battling up for the same market space with other providers like Ericsson and Huawei Technologies.

Now, ZTE has been subjected to new US bribery Investigations centered on bribery of foreign officials to beautify the company’s operations worldwide.

Previously, ZTE paid over $900 million to settle its status with the US after it pleaded guilty to Investigations in 2017. The equipment manufacturer was reportedly purchasing US equipment, Incorporating it as ZTE’s , then shipping it to Iran and North Korea.

A year later the Trump administration banned US companies from trading with ZTE in a fashion similar to Huawei’s current ban.

However, the ban was lifted when ZTE paid a $1billion fine to the US treasury, and now, the equipment manufacturer is back to square 1 with new Investigations underway.

ZTE reportedly paid bribes to foreign officials in more than a dozen of countries including Algeria, Liberia, Zimbabwe, Kenya among others.

With Kenya as an example by NBC news, ZTE attracted question marks on how it won a 2009 bid to install landline telephone monitoring equipment for the Nation’s Intelligence service.

Leaked reports later showed that ZTE had paid bribes to top-ranking officials from the agency to win the supply deal according to WikiLeaks.

In 2016, Norway banned ZTE from the country’s investment ecosystem over corruption, and ZTE shares can never be purchased by the Norwegian fund since then.

ZTE being an underdog competitor to Huawei Technologies, its fate with US Investigations might see it face Huawei-like bans, and an entry on the current entity list.

Since May 2019, Huawei has been on the US entity list, and this has affected its worldwide operations including a delay in 5G tests in most countries since it’s ranked as a major equipment supplier.

If the ZTE investigations place it on a guilty plake, and granted an entry on the US entity list, then, ZTE could be banned in major countries plus its telecom equipment barred from usage by several telcos around the world.

After paving way for a duo of LITE Smartphones, the Galaxy S10 LITE and Galaxy Note 10 LITE, Samsung is not done with revealing its 2020 line up with a new Galaxy ChromeBook launched today at the 2020 CES round in Las Vegas

The Samsung Galaxy ChromeBook has been unveikled as a premium choice for chromebook lovers with Integrated Intel Ultra HD Graphics riding on a 1TB default SSD drive running on the Wi-Fi 6 standard for lighting fast network speeds.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook quick specs

10th-gen Intel Core i5 processor

Integrated Intel UHD graphics

Up to 16GB of memory

Up to 1TB SSD storage

Wi-Fi 6

However, the eye catcher on the Notebook sized piece is Samsung’s first AMOLED 4K Ultra HD Display setting, that is first in its Chromebook tier. Furthermore, Chromebook will support the HDR400 standard that will ship with a software update in Q1 of 2020

As if the bezels display and impressive quality Ultra HD quality is not enough to ride the Chromebook to a premium status. Its ultra-portable size clocking at just 2.2 pounds (1KG) is the cake is proper icing for a 2 in 1 device it is.

The Galaxy Chromebook comes with an S-Pen and USB C Ports

ChromeBook or Tablet?

Whether you love to use the Galaxy ChromeBook as a laptop or prefer to fold it as a Tablet, your preferred settings grant you the perfect finish with either a Chrome Os texture or Android texture tailored for your usage.

It’s to the 2 in 1 status that a 1MP Webcam is situated on the Galaxy ChromeBook’s keyboard frame if it is to be used as a tablet, and on the top middle position when used as a ChromeBook.

On the otherhand, a 49.5Wh battery pack ships with the Chromebook giving it more standby time of at least 8hours per single charge. The Galaxy S-Pen being a familiar tool on Samsung’s Note series also comes as an added accessory for the laptop to allow writing, drawing and navigation gestures on the Chromebook.

On a price leveled ground, the Galaxy Chromebook will retail at $999 once it’s availability date meets with major retail stores. But for the fact that Samsung confirmed boot times of 6 seconds or less, this becomes a perfect 13.3″ light weight premium Chromebook to consider in 2023 as unveiled at CES

Facebook is set to bid farewell to post likes as a healthy syndrome to save a section of users from mental illnesses. The reveal was made by one of Facebook’s very own and its currently in its early roll out stages.

According to Facebook, users tend to rely on likes as a competition mechanism rather than a post ranking structure. It’s to this jungle that the Social media giant is choosing to limit the fate of likes before its stretch marks surface online.

The feature has already been tested on Instagram with successful nodes on Video posts. However, the Instagram adoption rate is different from that of Facebook shorting a delay for a quick roll out on the platform, but rather selected users.

How Facebook’s No Post Likes Newsfeed Section will appear

Once post likes are fully eliminated in the Newsfeed section, Facebook will be left with tickling switches of performance in groups that have re-strategised the Social media platform as a max groupie traction zone.

However, even with Like counts phased off the scene, Facebook will tremble with the number of friends liking a post instead of an overall count. Hence, this is a major shakeup for major players like Digital marketers trailing on the platform’s Like counts feature and a major health approach by Facebook.

Huawei is beginning to scale its device ecosystem to deliver a more seamless intelligent experience across all major user scenarios. To date, the Huawei Mobile Services ecosystem has more than 800,000 registered developers, and 500 million users worldwide.

“Revenue grew fast up through May,” said Liang. “Given the foundation we laid in the first half of the year, we continue to see growth even after we were added to the entity list. That’s not to say we don’t have difficulties ahead. We do, and they may affect the pace of our growth in the short term.”

He
added, “But we will stay the course. We are fully confident in what the
future holds, and we will continue investing as planned – including a total of
CNY120 billion in R&D this year. We’ll get through these challenges, and
we’re confident that Huawei will enter a new stage of growth after the worst of
this is behind us.”

United Kingdom (UK) officials have today chose a brighter 5G side of choosing Huawei’s network devices over any other to populate the futuristic internet standards across the country.

Though the Chinese tech giant has had unfixed ties with UK’s close allies, its stand on cybersecurity sounds <g class="gr_ gr_7 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace gr-progress" id="7" data-gr-id="7">convincing</g> to UK officials who believe Huawei is one of the best 5G network drivers they can <g class="gr_ gr_8 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace gr-progress" id="8" data-gr-id="8">accom</g><g class="gr_ gr_8 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="8" data-gr-id="8">modate</g> in the region.

According to Norman Lamb, who chairs the Science and Technology Committee, the consideration of the <g class="gr_ gr_29 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep gr-progress" id="29" data-gr-id="29">ethical</g> and geopolitical status of UK would delay the rollout of 5G in the country since all its allies chose to ditch Huawei and a deep consideration would help accommodate new decisions.

“The Government needs to consider whether the use of Huawei’s technology would jeopardize this country’s ongoing co-operation with our major allies,” said Mr. Lamb.

United Kingdom (UK) is a members of the “Five Eyes” alliance, consisting of United States (US), Australia, New Zealand and Canada of which US has not fully cleared Huawei off its entity list as its North American counterpart has also delayed its decision on whether to follow its Southern neighbor until elections come to a close.

Huawei today released a
white paper on innovation and intellectual property (IP), and warned against
the issue being politicized. Speaking at a press conference at the company’s
headquarters, Song Liuping, Huawei’s chief legal officer, said that IP is the
cornerstone of innovation and its politicization threaten progress across the
world.

“If politicians use IP as a political tool, they will destroy confidence in the patent protection system. If some governments selectively strip companies of their IP, it will break the foundation of global innovation,” said Song.

The paper, titled
“Respecting and Protecting Intellectual Property: The Foundation of
Innovation,” elaborates on Huawei’s practices in and contributions to
innovation and the protection of IPR.

It notes that innovation
and intellectual property protection lie at the heart of Huawei’s success over
more than 30 years. As of the end of 2018, Huawei has been granted 87,805
patents, of which 11,152 are U.S. patents. Since 2015, Huawei has received over
1.4 billion U.S. dollars in licensing revenue.

Aside from accumulating
patents of its own, Huawei has also paid more than 6 billion U.S. dollars in
royalties to legally implement the IP of other companies, with nearly 80% of
that paid to American companies, according to the document.

Intellectual property is
private property, protected by the law, and disputes should be resolved through
legal proceedings, said Song, adding that in the past 30 years, no court has
ever concluded that Huawei engaged in malicious IP theft, and Huawei has never
been required by the court to pay damages for this.

Huawei’s collaborative
and respectful approach to IP is demonstrated by the simple fact that many of
its technology breakthroughs are incorporated into the open standards that
govern 3G, 4G and 5G. As a result, even though some countries do not buy
products directly from Huawei, they still use the essential patents of Huawei,
and share in the benefits of the technology Huawei creates, said Song.

Song also addressed
Huawei’s stance on its use of patents, saying the company will not weaponize
its portfolio of patents. Rather, he said, Huawei will adopt an open and
cooperative attitude and follow the FRAND principle, or “fair, reasonable, and
non-discriminatory,” when engaging with relevant parties in the industry on
patents licensing.

“As always, Huawei is
ready and willing to share our technology with the world. That includes 5G. It
includes U.S. companies and U.S. consumers. Together, we can drive our industry
forward and advance technology for all mankind,” said Song.

The document also elaborates
on how sustained innovation has helped Huawei’s success; how Huawei’s
innovation brings huge social value; and Huawei’s stance on the use of third
parties’ IPR and its own.

Huawei Mobile hasn’t had a perfect month, but it’s a company with backup solutions given the fact that it’s fully IT driven. Away from its 5G plans to empowering innovations around the world, Huawei now has a fully in-house custom developed operating system after an all of a sudden ban by Google.

Once Google called it quits with Huawei after the Chinese brand was banned in the United States, It’s when a new mobile operating system dubbed “HongMeng” has come to life as the new default Huawei devices mobile system. Though Android is the most popular mobile operating system at the moment, Huawei’s new version must be one for Google to worry about since the Chinese manufacturer has always been one of the major contributors to the Android project.

Earlier this year during the company’s 5G plans unveiling in March, Richard Yiu__The company CEO confirmed that the company was working on an in-house custom operating system just in case things with the United States don’t go in the brand’s favor. Luckily, Huawei’s rumored operating system has now been revealed at a time when the Trump administration decided to block all imports & exports lined with the brand tag.

We expect Huawei’s HongMeng OS to have an Android like feel to its nature

HongMeng, as the name sounds, is a Chinese term that we’ve so far not got to know the meaning, but must be hidden in one of those “power |reliability |greatness ” terms to hype the project a notch higher. Either way, we expect the operating system to have an Android feel to its nature since Huawei is still one of the active contributors to the Android Project, and so it can’t divert far away from its previous themes.

According to Huawei Central__a Huawei focused blog, HongMeng has been in active development since 2012 meaning it won’t deviate far away from the Android craze, but instead much superior to the Google-owned project. So, the same way Huawei’s Mate X turned out to be a superior double punch to the Galaxy fold, its the same way HongMeng might turn out superior once it’s unveiled as ready to use by the Chinese camp.
